The Orion Project
Designed to deliver a significant Carbon Capture and Underground Storage capacity, with an initial injection capacity of 1Mtpa rising to 6Mtpa and commencing injection in 2031.
The full project encompasses both the decommissioned Amethyst field and currently producing West Sole field, utilising depleted gas reservoirs, in which to permanently store captured CO2 within geological formations.
Perenco operate significant infrastructure in the Humberside area, via the Dimlington Terminal and have the possibility to reuse existing key assets, such as strategic pipelines to facilitate the project.
Orion will complement other CCS projects currently in development, providing additional capacity for the decarbonisation of Humberside and adjacent areas, for a 30-year period.
